New in 2005, a 441 sf Quantum Pentex Main and 452 sf Quantum Pentex Genoa. The main is supported by a Lazy Jack, Harken Car System and 2 large Harken winches making hoisting and lowering the mainsail efficient. Ther 452 sf Quantum Pentex Genoa is managed by a Pro Furl furling with control systems leading to the cockpit. A full 969 sf symetrical spinnaker is managed with sock which helps make hoisting and lowering the chute relatively easy. Unique to Catana and Outremer catamarans are 2 daggerboards that enable the boat to point up to 5 degrees higher and experience 2-5 degrees less leeway compared to skeg keel catamarans. When you consider sailing in an uncomfortable 100 mile beat this ads up to being more than 17 miles closer to your destination. SILVER STAR is a well kept Catana 381, is new to the market and represents an exceptional value for sailors looking for a spacious and fast cruiser. This quality built daggerboard catamaran comfortably accommodates 6 adults and features the owner version full bath and shower with pressurized hot water.Unique to the Catana 381 is the single helm station located aft on the centerline and raised for excellent 360-degree visibility. Hull number one on her maiden sea-trial recorded 18.2-knots (sustained) in 24-knots of true wind. The Catana 381 is a true performance oriented and seaworthy catamaran.SILVER STAR is the hard to find owner's version and is the only model located in US waters. Key differences of the rare owner's version layout include an office setup with desk and bookshelves which can also be setup as a 3rd single or double berth using a removable custom bunk and fitted cushions. For sailors who don't like sitting in telephone booth sized heads, you'll also find a rather large shower and head in the aft portion of the starboard hull. The owners particularly enjoy this creature comfort after enduring mono hull sized heads for many years. Also, you will find larger, highly reliable 27 HP Yanmar diesels compared to 18 - 20 HP diesels normally found in standard Catana 381's. SILVER STAR nicely sails at 7 - 12 knots in 10 - 20 knot winds and can get up to teens in 25+ knot winds. This yacht is truly a performance cruising catamaran that is perfect for those interested in extended cruising on an ocean capable yacht.
