1996 Landing School Landing School 26, The Landing School 26 Weekender is designed to fill the need for a high quality daysailer/weekender. She is designed for the experienced yachtsman who appreciates first class construction, but whose schedule and/or preference demand the handiness of a daysailer. The design combines classic good looks with contemporary performance. The hull is balanced, with relatively narrow beam, moderate displacement, fin keel, and a spade rudder. Stability comes from a low center of gravity rather than wide beam, thereby allowing the LS-26 Weekender to stay on her feet and maintain her balance as the wind pipes up. The hull is cold molded, combining the warmth of wood with relatively low maintenance. Bulkheads and joiner work are structural, and combine with the full length stringers and monolithic hull to provide a stiff platform for maintaining proper rig tension. The easily handled fractional rig is modest, but given the LS-26 Weekender's moderate displacement and low wetted surface, excellent sail area/displacement and sail area/wetted surface ratios are achieved, insuring good performance. The small inboard diesel provides a safe, convenient method for negotiating narrow channels and today's crowded harbors when the wind dies. Since the primary intent is daysailing, the low-profile cabin provides shelter for children or the occasional overnight. A properly sized V-berth, a head, small galley and two comfortable seats make the cabin cozy, yet comfortable. The cockpit on the LS 26 Weekender is made for daysailing. Approximately 8 feet long, with wide seats, and high backrests, the deep cockpit gives the feeling of sailing in, rather than on, the boat. What a great place to spend the day with family and friends, or single handling with ease. This unique yacht is equipped with a 4-battery powered DC Electric Motor. No gasoline, nor diesel fuel requirement, eliminating costly fuel costs. Motoring at hull speed, Electra can operate for 6-8 continuous hours. (Go green!!)Located in Sarasota, FL
