Scrimshaw is a beautiful and customized example of the modern version of this American classic. Updates from the original Catalina 30 include a wonderful walk-through transom and improved layout and sailing performance. Equipped with the more desirable "dinette" table interior she is very comfortable with Ultrasuede cushions, curtains, refrigeration, GPS, radar, autopilot, and many cruising features. Recent upgrades include a custom removable helm seat, custom dodger, bimini, and extension in 2008, a new VHF radio in 2007 and updated batteries in 2007. Accomodations:
The interior of this Catalina 30 has sleeping for 7 with two in the private vee berth forward, two aft on the quarter berth, two on the convertible dinette in the salon and one on the starboard settee. All berths are over 6' and some over 7'. Headroom is about 6'3" and there is a lot of light and air from overhead hatches and opening portlights. The enclosed head/shower is located to port forward of the main salon. There is a navigation station forward of the quarter berth and the "U" shaped galley is located conveniently close to the companionway while remaining open to the main salon. Interior cushions in the salon are Cranberry Ultrasuede fabric and the wood surfaces are varnished teak. Two hatches and four opening ports keep this interior bright and airy. Linen pleated shades provide privacy. Ample storage is available from numerous drawers, bins, and lockers. The large hanging locker forward is lined with aromatic cedar.
