AVAILABLE FOR SHOWINGS DURING THE 2009 FORT LAUDERDALE BOAT SHOW. Olivia is a one of a kind, custom built 72 ft ketch designed by German Frers for one of the sons to circumnavigate the world s oceans. German Frers chose steel as the medium for her construction due to its strength to weight ratio, and renewability.She was completed in 1980 and crewed by some of the Frers family and friends. The boat sailed around the world enjoying exotic ports and anchorages as she moved from one ocean to another. Olivia was then sold to a U.S. corporation and the new owners renewed her systems, pointing her west and again sailing her around the world, her second complete circumnavigation.Olivia s beautiful design is familiar in hundreds of ports and anchorages worldwide. In 2000 the current owner bought Olivia and sailed her throughout the waters of the Northeast U.S., Bermuda and the Eastern U.S. He has just completed a thorough refit of the boat.A study of her lines reveal an undeniable influence from the greatest yacht designers of all time, Alden, Herreshoff, and of course German Frers, creating a fast, stable, all oceans cruising yacht with a traditional appearance and a modern and extremely fast underbody.She is now laying in South Florida and ready for her new owners. She is prepared for her next circumnavigation and capable of delivering them safely and quickly anywhere.
