We have represented many unique vessels over the last 25 years, but Daphne Isle is without a doubt one of the most special.Daphne Isle is a heavily built magnificent long-distance cruising yacht, capable of going anywhere. She is a direct descendant of the original Carbineer which has won a number of awards for ocean voyages. Daphne Isle is ideally suited for cruising the Northwest with her custom center-cockpit semi-enclosed helm station a vast improvement over the original Carbineer s aft steering station. Purchased in England as a two year old vessel by well known Victoria Sailors, Daphne Isle cruised the Mediterranean and then was sailed across the Atlantic, landing in Victoria in 1975. The present owners had the good fortune to be first in line to purchase Daphne Isle in 1998 and have enjoyed extensively cruising her ever since. Please see her owner s comments below. Owners Comments: Daphne Isle is a Moody Carbineer Motor Sailer, designed by Jack Laurent Giles, one of the world's great yacht designers. She was built by A.H. Moody and Sons in Southampton. This vessel is fully equipped for offshore sailing and is an incomparable Northwest passage maker. The cutaway keel, skeg and rudder design give excellent sailing performance. Under power, Daphne Isle cruises effortlessly at 7.2 knots (1300RPM, 1.4 gallons per hour).Unlike the standard Carbineer's aft steering location, Moody built a custom designed forward station which allows the helmsman a high location to single hand the in-mast furling mainsail and self tailing genoa winches. The convertible dodger is easily lowered or raised to include side-screens and/or aft awning. The raised salon provides all round visibility and an excellent helm station. It is clad in teak like the rest of the interior. The comfortable seating is upholstered in kid leather. There are six berths in three staterooms. The two forward staterooms share a head and shower compartment. The aft stateroom has its own shower and head. The galley is convenient and efficient both at sea and at the dock. The engine room below the pilot house gives ample room to service and polish the Iron Horse.Eric Hiscock, of Wanderer fame, cruised the Northwest in company with Daphne Isle one summer and wrote "there were many things about Daphne Isle that took our fancy, but above al
