Deck and Hull Equipment:
TARA was AWLGRIPED six years ago but in a VASTLY MORE COMPLETE WAY than other boats. This cost about THREE TIMES MORE THAN THE NORMAL WAY for the following reasons:1. BOTH the hull AND the DECK were done simultaneously. Most jobs involve only the hull. But decks sustain much more weather abuse than hulls do.2. The job was done WITH THE RAILS OFF. This way the 2 colors meet under the rails eliminating the ragged edge where paint meets varnish.3. While the rails were off they were bench sanded and the bottoms were SATURATED WITH EPOXY. This GREATLY REDUCES water absorption and the resulting peel-back of varnish later. The rails were re-installed using modern polysulfide bedding compund. After re-installation they received 8 coats of varnish with 4 more coats since.4. The hull was Awlgriped using the CLEAR-COAT METHOD. SIX color coats were applied. The surface was then fine sanded and the name/hail/cove were done in GOLD LEAF and then a clear-coat of Awlgrip was sprayed on. The result is an absolutely GLASSINE surface!BRIGHTWORK COVERS to protect every stitch of VARNISHED EXTERIOR JOINERY from the sun. They are in place every day that TARA is not being sailed!A high quality winter STORAGE COVER w/CoverKlamp METAL FRAME which very completely seals around the mast and rigging and keeps out the winter precip but allows for air flow to the decks. This cover goes on with the boat in (or out of) the water with MAST UPThese 2 covers extend THE LIFE OF THE VARNISH by a factor of 6 to 1, SAVING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS in varnish expense!Cruising spinnakerCUSTOM COVER to protect both the jib and genoa when furled (New 2006)(4) Dock fenders w/cozies(12) Dock linesS.S. stanchions and double lifelines w/gateCustom fitted sheets and mattress coversGenoa tracks on toe railsHinckley CHROME over BRASS stemhead inegral chocksS.S. bow pulpit & stern pulpitFORTRESS anchor with deck chocksfastened with 3/4" Everdur boltsRemovable deck blocksVarious snatch blocks & other riggingCockpit sun awningTeak swim ladderRECENT UPGRADES:Lewmar 2-speed self-tailing jib winches (2007)Schaffer roller furling jib system (2006)Custom cover for mainsail (New 2004)North mainsail w/FULL BATTANS & Dutchman system, StrongTrack, EASY UP, EASY DOWN (New 2004)White cockpit cushions (New 2005)2-depth standard reefing system (New 2004)(2) Jibs, 104% (excellent) 150% (good) modified by NorthSails w/NorthRopeLuff system (modified)(3) Boat hooksMagna BBQ grillCustom FITTED SHEETS and MATTRESS COVER
