SELLER DESCRIPTION

Own a piece of classic artistry and US history From the famous Bluenose yard in Nova Scotia Owner wants offers from buyers willing to restore her. Crazy Dane is an example of classic boat building from a time when building a yacht was an art form. She is a strong, fast and classic yacht, originally built by William Muller and designed by William Hand Jr. Some of her previous owners include actor George O'Brien, silent film director F.W. Murnau, and actor John Carridine where such Hollywood notables as W.C. Fields, Errol Flynn and many others were guests aboard. Her history includes trips to the South Pacific, Tahiti and Bali with director F.W. Murnau. Murnau was so taken with Bali and Tahiti, he produced two films there.Crazy Dane cruised the classic yacht circuit after 1924 and was a racing participant in the Transpac race from California to Honolulu, Hawaii. The current owner has documentation of her construction, commissioning and sailing history reflecting the best there was to offer in this Golden Era of film and shipbuilding.Today she is in Astoria, Oregon where she is available to the right new owner who recognizes the boat s value and place in maritime history for such a nautical work of art and is willing to put time and care into her restoration. Her hull is sound. The deck house was added on after her original build. She will require loving restoration. Further details, photos and information on her condition are available. She would make a fine private yacht, nautical museum or attraction. Contact us for updated details.
