Main Cabin THE CABIN MADE OF ONE INCH TEAK IS COZY, SOLIDLY BUILT, AND LARGE. ON THE PORT SIDE THERE IS SINGLE BUNK AND THE DINING TABLE WHICH FOLDS, DROPS AND BECOMES THE SECOND HALF OF A DOUBLE BUNK. UNDER ALL SEATS ARE STORAGE COMPARTMENTS. AFT OF THE BUNK IS THE CHART TABLE, SINCLE SIDE BAND AND VHF RADIOS. AFT OF THE CHART TABLE IS A SINGLE BUNK WITH STORAGE BELOW. ON THE STARBOARD SIDE THERE IS A SINGLE BUNK WITH STORAGE BELOW AND OUTBOARD AND ABOVE. AFT IS THE GALLEY WITH A TWO BURNER PROPANE STOVE, A SMALL SINK AND A LARGE ICE COOLER. OVERHEAD THERE IS A DOUBLED PANED SKYLIGHT THAT OPEN HORIZONTALLY TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE VENTILATION Forward Cabin FORWARD OF THE MAIN CABIN AND THE MAST IS THE HEAD WITH A TOILET. FORWARD OF THE HEAD THROUGH A DOOR ARE TWO BUNKS AND BELOW AND FORWARD OF THESE BUNKS ARE STORAGE SPACES, THE SAIL, CHANIN AND ROPE LOCKER. A LARGE HATCH OPENS TO THE DECK.

Mechanical Equipment:
THE KAMPER 426 DIESEL ENGINE STARTS AND RUNS WELL PROPELLING THE BOAT AT 4 TO 5 KNOTS, DEPENDING ON THE WIND AND CURRENT. IT CAN BE EASILY SERVICED EITHER FROM THE MAIN CABIN OR DOWN THROUGH A HATCH IN THE COCKPIT INTO A LARGE SPACE BELOW. ONE FUEL TANK ABOVE THE ENGINE AND ONE BELOW PROVIDE A TOTAL OF 60 GALLONS OF DIESEL STORAGE CAPACITY. 12 VOLT DISTRIBUTION PANEL

Electrical System:
TWO 4D INDUSTRIAL BATTERIES PROVIDE ALL SHIPS POWER AND ARE CHARGED BY THE ENGINE DRIVEN GENERATOR. DC POWER IS FED INTO A 12 VOLT DC DISTRIBUTION PANEL THAT SUPPLIES THE SHIPS LIGHTING AND FANS. A 12 VOLT DC TO 12O VOLT AC INVERTER PROVIDES POWER TO DRIVE TOOLS. COMMUNICATION IS PROVIDED THROUGH A VHF RADIO AND AN ICOM M700 SINGLE SIDEBAND RADIO WITH AN AT120 TUNER THAT CONNECTS TO THE INSULATED BACKSTAY. ABOARD IS AN UNMOUNTED 12 VOLT REFRIGERATION COMPRESSOR AND 4 COLD PLATES

Deck and Hull Equipment:
ON DECK THE COCKPIT CAN EASILY ACCOMODATE 6 CREW MEMBERS OR SLEEP TWO. A SET OF 4 FOLDING CUSHIONS PROVIDE COMFORT. A LARGE REMOVABLE HATCH PROVIDES ACCESS TO A LARGE AREA BELOW DECKS FROM WHERE THE ENGINE AND FUEL TANK CAN BE SERVICED AND MUCH EQUIPMENT STOWED. AFT OF THE MAST AND ABOVE THE SKYLIGHT LIES THE 6 FOOT DINGHY HELD ON BLOCKS AND WELL SECURED. AFT OF THE DINGHY RESTS THE CANISTER WITH THE 6-MAN SWITLIK LIFE RAFT

Sails and Rigging:
THE 43 FOOT WOOD MAST IS IN GOOD CONDITION WHILE THE 1/4 INCH STAINLESS STEEL RIGGING WAS INSTALLED NEW IN 2003 USING NORSEMAN FITTINGS. THE GENOA HAS FULL ROLLER FURLING. BACKSTAY HAS TWO INSULATORS FOR SSB ANTENNA. ALL SAILS ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THERE ARE 2 HALYARD WINCHES, 1 STAYSAIL WINCH AND 2 GENOA WINCHES. A WIND POWERED SELF STEERING GEAR HANGS OFF THE STERN TO CONTROL THE TILLER/

Additional Equipment:
Ships Gear SHIPS ANCHORS INCLUDE 3 HEAVY ANCHORS EACH COMPLETE WITH HEAVY CHAIN AND ONE INCH NYLON LINE. GENAO AND MAINSAIL SHEETS ARE ALL 5/8TH INCH NYLON. A HEAVY DUTY MANUAL ANCHOR WINDLASS IS SET ON DECK NEAR THE BOW. THE 4 HP OUTBOARD AND A 1.5 HP SEA GULL RUN WELL.

SELLER DESCRIPTION

1951 CUSTOM Garber Steel Cutter Rig, 40 foot, 12.6 m overall steel cutter, 12 foot beam and 6 foot draft, this is a vintage historic boat. It is solidly built and has been well maintained throughtout its many years. Many years of life remain as do many miles at sea. This boat is the result of hein garbers dream created as he crossed the atlantic ocean during world war ii. It was built in hamburg, germany in 1951 of black iron steel originally destined for building submarines, fully riveted and with round chines which points to the enormous equipment required to do the job. Its interior is crafted in one inch teak which remains in as-built condition, she is for sale 'as is', complete with a massive inventory of equipment, parts and tools. The general condition of each component follows: the fotos submitted were taken during the last haulout in the summer of 2005. The hull is sound. There are no leaks. Its two through hull fitings are sound and operable.
